We experienced the most magical lighting for Sydney and Colton's late September engagement session in the mountains above Boulder. We started in their coziest fall outfits on Flagstaff with views towards the flatirons. Yellow wildflowers, a sweeping landscape, and a handful of red rocks added to the feel of autumn in their photos. I bet you'll never guess from the photos, but this wasn't actually our first location choice! I always meet my clients on Baseline Road so that we can drive up together for two reasons: First, there's hardly any cell phone service after a certain point on the drive. Second, there are some areas with only 7-10 parking spots to access them and it's possible to strike out and have to continue on to another location. On a Sunday night (which this was) we got shut out at our first choice and so we pivoted and I surprised them with a new location. I'd say it worked out pretty darn well!
Next, we continued up the mountains to a famous rocky outcropping which faces the Continental Divide. In sneakers and a more formal outfit, Sydney and Colton made their way to the very edge of the earth. Or at least that's how it felt! The viewpoint was filled with locals, tourists, and other photoshoots all waiting for the gorgeous sunset, but we got first dibs on our perfect spot and these two look like the only people in the world. Would you scramble onto a cliffside like Sydney and Colton did for their epic engagement session? Let me know in the comments ;)
