OK, I am SO excited to share Meg and Ian's wedding photos. Feast your eyeballs on the most adventurous and fun-loving couple ever.
Meg and Ian's June wedding at Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark, CO was an intimate event for their friends and family from Minnesota. They wanted the feeling of eloping in Rocky Mountain National Park while also including their family and friends. The solution? A first look and portraits in the alpine at nearly 12,000 feet followed by a ceremony at a comparatively tame 8,300 feet with their loved ones.
We met at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center so that we could drive into the Park together. Meg and Ian arrived in separate cars - Ian from their rental home and Meg from Glow Salon in town. I don't think either one of them expected to get as emotional as they did when they saw each other in wedding outfits for the first time! As we wound our way up the mountain roads, which feature sheer drop-offs and no guard rails, Meg and Ian were grateful that I had offered to drive so they could take in the views. At our destination we were greeted (rather harshly) by intense winds. Meg and Ian gave the go-ahead and we struggled out onto the trail. I was incredibly grateful for the short hike as they were in dress shoes and I was managing my two photography cameras and my video camera! The photos have epic movement and genuine belly laughs, and highlight Meg and Ian's love for adventure.
After Rocky Mountain National Park we drove to Wild Basin Lodge, where Meg and Ian had rented the ceremony site for an hour. Everyone was waiting for the couple to arrive and the ceremony to begin. As an incredibly unique and thoughtful touch, Meg and Ian added a "ring warming" to their ceremony. Their guests passed their wedding bands from person to person, with each individual standing up to say a wish or a blessing for the couple. After the ceremony we parted ways. Meg and Ian headed to brunch at Bird and Jim in Estes Park. Their ceremony may have been short, but their wedding adventure was not! That day and in the days surrounding their wedding, Meg and Ian took their entire group on hikes and played backyard games at their rental home. It was like a big group vacation for all of their most cherished people. I'd say they started this whole marriage thing exactly right ;)
