It was a super overcast afternoon in late October when influencer Kate Austin and her fiancee Sarah Sulsenti met me in Washington Square Park for engagement photos. Kate had surprised Sarah with a Paris proposal in front of the Eiffel Towel just months before during a BHLDN photoshoot. Fancy, right?! I thought so, too. Which meant I wasn't expecting the lovable goofballs who showed up. They are affectionate and love to laugh, and their love is a total joy to document. You may notice in these photos that only Sarah has an engagement ring. When we stopped halfway through our session for an outfit change (and a glass of wine) Kate mentioned that they wouldn't start planning their wedding until Sarah had proposed to her. In fact, Sarah was planning to propose first but then Kate surprised her. Sneaky, sneaky - and not easy to pull off ;)
Just three short weeks later Sarah surprised Kate with a proposal ON THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW! My jaw dropped through the floor and then I started sympathy crying happy tears with Kate. These were seriously the most epic proposals in the history of engagements, and I couldn't have been happier to have joined this rad couple's life in the midst of such a happy season.
