Exploring a rocky Colorado canyon with Anne and Scott for their engagement session in Boulder with their two dogs Sam and Miles - what could be better?! Last week on Instagram I shared some of my favorite tips for including your dogs in your photo session:
1) Tell me in advance so we can choose the best time and location for your dog! I prefer off-peak times and less trafficked trails so there are fewer dogs and children around to distract your lil one. In addition, some locations (like Rocky Mountain National Park) do not allow dogs on the trails, so picking a dog-friendly trail is important 🏔
2) Arrive 15 minutes early to get out some energy, sniffs, bathroom breaks, etc. It will be so much easier for them to pay attention to me if they’re not in sensory overload after an exciting car ride 🚗
3) Speaking of getting your dogs to look at the camera for a few photos, bring me treats to use or tell me their favorite words 🦴
4) Be prepared to leave your fur babies in the car for half of the session (usually 45 minutes to an hour) or, even better, bring a friend or family member to take them on a walk while we finish your photo shoot together!
